Our Commitment to Safeguarding

The Safeguarding of pupils is our priority at Hopewell School.

The Governors of the School fully recognises that they have a duty to ensure arrangements are in place for safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children. All Staff receive regular training in how to keep young people safe and all reports and safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly and correctly.

3 key pieces of statutory guidance inform our training and Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, these are:

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education- DfE September 2018
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children – HM Gov July 2018
  • The Prevent Duty – DfE June 2015.

All members of our school community, including volunteers and governors as well as visitors to the school, will at all times play a full and active part in keeping our pupils safe and protecting them from harm.

We adhere to the Local Authority Safeguarding Children Board procedures.

Our policies  Child Protection,  Prevent, Health and Safety,  Positive Touch, Mood Management, Positive Physical Intervention  Attendance, Sex and Relationships, Administering Medicine, Anti -Bullying, ICT Policies, Whistleblowing and First Aid directly link to our commitment to Safeguarding Hopewell pupils. All of our policies can be found in the policies section of our school website.

There are currently 3 Designated Safeguarding Staff across both sites.

The Head Teacher is the Designated Safeguarding Lead. Yvonne Miller is the Safeguarding Governor.

If have any safeguarding concerns please contact the school.
